Streamlined mask shape and size for simplicity lovers
AirFit F40 is designed to overcome common barriers to sleep apnoea therapy – such as concerns about personal appearance, discomfort, claustrophobia and self-consciousness. AirFit F40 is small3, discreet and lightweight4. In fact, it’s our smallest full face mask3.
This makes it a good choice if you wear glasses or like to read during therapy, as the under-the-nose design provides a wide field of vision, while offering the same effective seal as our leading over-the-nose AirFit F20 mask5,6.
Quick and easy to put on and take off1
The AirFit F40 mask has just four points to adjust and magnetic clips** that guide the headgear into the frame in seconds, while the short tube and quick-release elbow make disconnection simple. In a recent study, more than 70% of patients could fit AirFit F40 effectively without assistance1 and 100% of them rated it easy to use overall1.

Frequently asked questions
Do you have questions about the AirFit F40 mask? Check out our FAQs to find the answers.
The AirFit F40 is ResMed’s smallest Minimalist full face mask. AirFit F40 is designed to overcome common barriers to sleep apnoea therapy – such as concerns about personal appearance, discomfort, claustrophobia and self-consciousness – as well as preconceptions that full face masks are heavy or bulky. As it all seals under the nose (as opposed to a traditional over-the-nose design) it’s a good choice for people who wear glasses and like to read in bed. The AdaptiSeal cushion, designed to shape itself to various facial contours, is also a good option for side sleepers and those who like to change positions during the night, due to its flexibility.
Your healthcare professional can provide you with clinical support, including helping you resolve any mask comfort or fitting/adjustment process issues you may be experiencing.
Please watch the video with step-by-step instructions on when and how to clean your mask.
It’s important to take care of your CPAP equipment and check it regularly, especially the mask cushion and parts that touch your face, which can be affected by dirt, oil and residue from your skin. Poorly cleaned CPAP masks can cause discomfort and skin irritation and make therapy less effective. If there is any visible deterioration of a mask component (cracking, crazing, tears etc) the component should be discarded and replaced. Contact your healthcare professional and ask for their recommendation.
Magnetic clips are designed to be a convenient way of fitting your mask easily and quickly, as they guide the headgear into the frame in seconds. Magnetic clips can be used by most patients, but there are some contraindications to be aware of when using masks with magnetic clips. Please refer to the user guide for complete information, including magnet contraindications and warning.

**Contraindication
Masks with magnetic components are contraindicated for use by patients where they, or anyone in close physical contact while using the mask, have the following:
– Active medical implants that interact with magnets (i.e., pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD), neurostimulators, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunts, insulin/infusion pumps)
– Metallic implants/objects containing ferromagnetic material (i.e., aneurysm clips/flow disruption devices, embolic coils, stents, valves, electrodes, implants to restore hearing or balance with implanted magnets, ocular implants, metallic splinters in the eye)
Warning
Keep the mask magnets at a safe distance of at least 6 inches (150 mm) away from implants or medical devices that may be adversely affected by magnetic interference. This warning applies to you or anyone in close physical contact with your mask. The magnets are in the frame and lower headgear clips, with a magnetic field strength of up to 400mT. When worn, they connect to secure the mask but may inadvertently detach while asleep. Implants/medical devices, including those listed within contraindications, may be adversely affected if they change function under external magnetic fields or contain ferromagnetic materials that attract/repel to magnetic fields (some metallic implants, e.g., contact lenses with metal, dental implants, metallic cranial plates, screws, burr hole covers, and bone substitute devices). Consult your physician and manufacturer of your implant / other medical device for information on the potential adverse effects of magnetic fields.
