How often should I clean my mask? How should I take care of my other equipment?

Maintaining and caring for your therapy equipment is essential so that you can get the most out of your treatment.

Mask care

You may not realise it, but over time your skin releases facial oils that can reduce the quality and performance of your seal and mask. So after wearing your mask, clean your mask thoroughly to remove any facial oils.

Clean the cushion of your mask every morning, after using it at night. That way, you will have a clean, dry mask ready to use for your next treatment. Cleaning your mask will also remove facial oils to optimise your mask’s seal.

To clean your mask, handwash each day with mild soap. Avoid harsh cleaning products, which may damage the mask, or leave harmful residue. Allow to dry away from direct sunlight.

For more information on how to clean and care for your mask, please refer to your mask User Guide.

Device care

To be able to deliver consistent, high quality treatment, your device needs to be well maintained. A blocked air filter may impact on the pressure delivered to you. It’s important to regularly examine the air filter for holes or dust build-up. Refer to your user guide for specific recommendations or care provider on how often you should maintain your device.

Humidifier care

Maintaining your humidifier is important in order to achieve effective treatment and prevent the build-up of deposits.

After each use, we recommend that the water tub should be washed out with a mild detergent and warm water. Then it should be thoroughly rinsed and dried, away from direct sunlight. The tub should also be checked once a month for wear and deterioration. If any component has cracked or become cloudy or pitted, the tub should be replaced.

Please note that this cleaning information is only a summary. For more detailed information, please refer to your product User Guide.

It’s important to replace your mask regularly to ensure that you maintain comfortable, effective therapy every night.

Some indications to help you know it might be time to replace your mask (or parts of it) are if you:

  • have to tighten the straps very often
  • notice the mask has lost its spring
  • feel your treatment may be less effective than usual
  • find that the cushion is still slippery even after cleaning it
